Ciro & Sal's
is located
at 4
Kiley Court, behind 430 Commercial St., in Provincetown's East End,
between Bangs Street and Lovett's Court......down the clam shell alley
way..... to the opening in the trellis on your left.....where you'll enter
by way of our patio and garden.
Unfortunately we do not have parking....but we suggest that you take any
legal space on the street that you can within a several block radius,
park at Elena Hall's private parking lot two blocks up the street on the
water side.....or try the Johnson St. or MacMillan Wharf Municipal parking
lots. Or....leave your car at your guest house and enjoy a stroll through
town!
Reservations are
strongly recommended at all times.
Our
unpretentious doorway is your portal to gastronomic delights in a cozy
wine cellar that has radiated charm and atmosphere for decades. The downstairs
dining rooms are a trip down memory lane, having changed very little over
the years. Returning customers feel immediately at home in the familiar
low-ceiling surroundings with wicker basket chianti bottles hanging from
nails and cheese graters covering the lights. Newcomers are at once charmed
and know they have discovered something special.
You'll
be greeted at the door and promptly escorted to your table. We do our
utmost to honor reservations and, unlike the 'old days', we usually have
your table ready for you. In the unlikely event that there is a short
wait we invite you to enjoy our patio garden or our upstairs cocktail
lounge.
Step
inside and enjoy the aroma of garlic and herbs, combining with the freshest
local ingredients, wafting from the kitchen to make your mouth water while
reading the menu! Be seated at an intimate table and settle in for an
evening of extraordinary taste sensations.
One
of our most popular tables, nestled among racks of old wine bottles and
brick walls, is called 'corner round' and is a couple of steps down into
the interior of our main dining room. It doesn't get much more romantic
than this!
We
have two lovely dining rooms upstairs. The smaller room in back is being
affectionately called 'The Tuscany Room' and is filled with Anne Packard's
paintings of the region from a recent trip to Italy. If you like combining
great food with great art, this is the room for you! And, yes, if you
fall in love with one of the paintings you're in luck--they're all for
sale. Vist the Packard Gallery
just a few doors up the street.
Our
upstairs main dining room overlooks the patio garden and gazebo. High,
beamed ceilings, mirrored walls and large windows make this spacious room
light and airy. Add a massive brick fireplace, Cynthia Packard's dreamy
still lifes and some Lasagna al Forno and you'll think you've died and
gone to heaven!
On
opening night the anticipation of a sensational meal was evident in the
smiles of our soon-to-be very satisfied customers. Tucked away in a quiet
corner at table #10 (the only table in the restaurant actually designated
by a number and not its own name) and surrounded by brick walls and wine
racks, these fellows were enjoying the arduous task of decision making.
What shall we have tonight? And what shall we have the next time we come?
After
dinner, or before, say hello to our upstairs bartender who has stocked
his shelves with a tantalizing and complete assortment of liqueurs, cognacs,
armagnacs, ports, sherries, aperatifs and house flavored grappas in addition
to all the standard fare. Choose from our adequate wine list of hearty
Italian, French and California reds and whites or try an Italian beer
or New England microbrew. Whatever your beverage, you will be charmed
by an easy manner, good humor and interesting conversation.
For
holidays and special occasions there's no better ambience or menu than
Ciro & Sal's. It's always a good idea to make reservations early especially
when requesting a particular table or waiter. This gang of regulars (from
left to right: Charlie, Bob, Barbara, Sharon and Jean) are seen here raising
their glasses to their absent friend, Janet, who was unable to join them
on this particular occasion. See you next time, Janet!
If
you're looking for accommodations, may we recommend The
Masthead Cottages on the bay in the far west end of town, Christopher's
By the Bay, 8 Johnson Street, just a few blocks west of Ciro's towards
town or The Black
Pearl Inn on Pearl Street, also in the east end. For those of you
who would like to be out of town, consider a stay at Blue
Heron Cove Bed & Breakfast in Wellfleet or Fort
Hill Bed & Breakfast in Eastham.
